what is forgiveness? | Real life example shared with us |
Forgiveness is forgiving someone for wrongs they did against you. Jesus forgives us for sinning against him everyday. Jesus forgave Peter for denying him three times. Forgiveness is hard, especially when someone close to you hurts you. However, we are told to forgive others or God won't forgive us. We are also told to forgive not one, not seven, but 77 times. That means that if someone asks for forgiveness you don't just say, "Ya," and forget about it. You forgive them with your whole heart and then forget about it! | Recently, my dad and I got into an argument. He did something that really upset me. When he tried to apologize, I turned my shoulder on him. In my head I thought, "Why should I forgive you? You're just going to go and hurt me more." Then I realized: that's how we are with God. We ask for forgiveness and he accepts it we go turn our backs on him and sin again and again. |
